Polestar has partnered with Swiss company Bcomp to replace a large number of plastic panels in the car with natural material flax and replace seats with recycled plastic, further promoting sustainable development. According to Polestar, flax plants can not only be used as edible materials, but also as clothing fabrics. The reason for choosing flax material is that it is 50% lighter and has higher strength than traditional plastic materials. Polestar says this approach can reduce the amount of plastic used in cars by 80%.
In addition to using linen materials, Polestar will also plan to use a range of other materials for the interior of the vehicle. For example, the seat surface uses 3D woven materials made from plastic bottles by Bcomp Company; Carpet made from discarded fishing nets; And using the waste generated during the cork manufacturing process to produce vehicle PVC internal components.
"We will not lose some more luxurious designs by using these materials," Maximilian Missoni, the design director of Polestar, said in a statement. He pointed out that this is a very big challenge, and Polestar will gain new aesthetic value due to the adoption of new technologies.
Previously, Polestar 2, a subsidiary of Polestar Polar Star, had undergone trial production in China and will officially begin mass production and delivery in the first half of this year. The official price for the first release is 418000 yuan.
