The production of seats is both difficult and simple. Two or three people can wrap the leather chair with a sewing machine. The surface looks OK, but the expert's perspective is much worse.
The platemaking of leather chairs is the most basic and important work, and is an important indicator of the quality of leather chairs. The platemaking of leather chairs is controlled by experienced professional technicians. After determining the version, the production process will begin.
The first step is to cut the skin. A piece of cowhide is about 40 to 50 square feet. The leather and leather surface of a cow's back are the best parts of a piece of leather, and are generally used for the backrest and cushion parts of a seat. Because of long-term pressure and friction, these two parts of the seat are also the most easily felt parts. The leather surface of the belly and neck of a cow is poor, and is generally used on the skirt of a seat or on parts that are not easily visible. The leather and cloth have a certain stretching direction. Some leather chairs appear concave and convex after sitting for a month or two, mostly due to improper leather cutting direction.
The second step is sewing. After cutting the leather, the sewing process begins. There is also some emphasis here. Generally, a sponge with a mesh bottom of 12 to 15 millimeters thick is also placed under the leather, which is also called super strength cotton. Note that some stores are cutting corners here. When sewing, it is important that the worker is skilled. Once the leather is sewn, it cannot be changed, otherwise obvious pinholes will be left on the leather. During inspection, attention should also be paid to whether the needle pitch of the exposed thread is uniform, whether the leather tip is exposed, whether there are burrs and thread ends, and whether the color of the thread and the leather is consistent.
The third step is to set the seat, which is simply to put the sewn leather cover on the seat. Simple to say, not so easy to do. When fitting, a slight carelessness can tear or scratch the leather cover. After fitting, the leather cover should be firmly attached to the seat by tapping and pulling. The clips used to fix the leather cover should be rustproof, and the size and tightness of the clips should be consistent. When assembling the seat, the seam between the cushion and the cushion should be symmetrical and neat.
The fourth step is to reinstall the seat. The door and interior space are limited, and the size of the seats is not small and relatively heavy. During reassembly, it is necessary to avoid scratching the seat surface and not touching the car paint. Therefore, it must be done according to the reassembly process requirements, otherwise, if there is any carelessness, all previous efforts will be wasted.
Generally, the leather chair of a five seat sedan can be made in 3-4 hours.
After using the leather chair for a period of time, some car owners may encounter some difficulties:
1. Blistering: Also known as delamination, mainly due to the quality of the glue. Try to choose imported leather.
2. Needle and thread cracks: leftover problems in material or process. Find a shop owner to repair it.
3. Color fading: The quality of the leather itself is defective. Try to choose imported leather materials.
4. Deformation: Mainly concentrated at the cushion and backrest. "It's an operational process issue, not cutting according to the texture of the leather.".
